As Salaama Miracle Ministry we put God first, we want to serve him and bring the Good News to the people. As serving, we want to show next love and to make sure they also have hope for their future. We teach them at Salaama Home reading and some academics. Our aim is also, that they know how to use a bible and get encouraged to read!Every week they learn a different topic/skill in the afternoon, so that they have a look and get an idea about different works for their future.
When the kids go back home, they are allowed to go back to school or to start a skill sponsored from Salaama Miracle Ministry, if it is necessary. After a rehabilitation time around 4 months, they should be able to go back home. At home they need some time to adapt and make new friends, so that they are stable.
At school they learn reading and writing, in town the school is in English, only in some villages it is in their tribe language. They are taught about different subjects and mathematics they also have. We send them in government schools, it is cheap and we don’t make a big loose, when they run away again. The most Street kids are too old to go back to school, but also still too young to start a skill. So sometimes to make them busy, we still send them to school and we are so proud of all the kids at school and so many have manages already several months and some already more than one year to be back at home, even when the situation is not easy.
When they are ready, they search for a skill place in their home town or home village, then we get in touch with the boss and the manager and see, if we can bargain for a fair price. Afterwards they started to work direct and learn daily at work, during the skill they don’t have school.
At Salaama Home we have started to do Home Schooling. First of all, the most Street kids are too old to go to school and secondly, some are Analphabet and they have first to learn how to read. Also their behaviour has to be changed when they come from the street. To encourage the boys to go back home, we promise them, to support them at school or at the skill, so they have a goal to go home. In the afternoon people come and teach them different skills, so they have a look in a lot of jobs, before deciding which skill to do.
